About

You might ask – what can be sweeter than honey?  Two things in my book:

  1. Real foods.  I define “real” as eating food in its most natural state.  This is often called “clean eating”.  Michael Pollan says it best in his Food Rules book on page 31: “Eat foods made from ingredients that you can picture in their raw state or growing in nature.” When you eat food in its natural state, you will inherently eat healthy, nutritious foods.  You will no longer need to worry about “dieting”.  This is not a diet, but a daily decision that you make for you and your family.  This is not to say that you can never splurge on your favorite foods (I do!), but follow the advice found in Psalm 26:13, “If you find honey, eat just enough – too much of it, and you will vomit.”
  2. The Bible.  Reading, knowing, and applying God’s Word to my life is sweeter than honey.  Psalm 119:103 says: “How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!” More than anything, hiding God’s Word in my heart (Psalm 119:11) is my desire for me and my family.  God’s Word teaches us many things, but nothing more important than about His son, Jesus Christ.  John 3:16 says that God loves us so much that He sent His son, Jesus, to die on the cross as our substitute because we make choices every day that are sin.  If we simply accept God’s gift of Jesus and believe in Him, we will have eternal life (Romans 6:23 and Ephesians 2:8-9).

Now, that you know what is sweeter than honey, here is a little info about me:

My name is Traci.  First and foremost, I am a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior.  Second, I’m the wife of a loving and supportive husband and the mother of three young children.  Third, I’m an Okie by birth, a Texan by choice, and a Texas A&M Aggie…whoop!

Here are a few other tidbits about me.

  • You can probably guess that I love to cook…and eat!
  • I love to read books, have a clean house, and scrapbook for my kids.
  • I wake up at 5 am most days to read the Bible and workout (my favorite workouts: P90X and Insanity).
  • My favorite indulgence: Godiva Cheesecake from Cheesecake Factory.  And any homemade sweet treat recipe I’ve tried and posted on this blog!
  • I’m the leader of a program called Bible Drill at my church.  Bible Drill is a program designed to teach 1st-5th graders to hide God’s Word in their hearts.  It is my passion and my ministry, second-only to raising my two kids.

Why did I start this blog?

Eating better and healthier has been a process in the works for years.  I continue to learn and refine my food choices.  In December 2011, some friends asked me about how I eat and wanted to make some changes.  I offered to help and started the first draft of Traci’s Ten Tenets of Eating.  They asked for recipes and I emailed a few out.  Then, I had a revelation – I’ll start a website where I’m not pushing content to people, but allowing them to find the content they want.  So, here we are.

In early 2015, I realized that the Bible Drill program I love so much could benefit from posting resources and tips on this blog.  Therefore, I have been transitioning this blog to be a place where you can be fed physically and spiritually.

One final note: I’m not a doctor, nutritionist, and have not completed any educational classes or training in these fields.  Everything on this website is my own personal views and experience or information from people who know more than me.
